A Boston Tea Party …(Get Down To Their Level)

I have visited psychologists, sociologists, priests, party members, rabbis, ministers, teachers, counselors, and wise old elders but no one has yet been able to help me understand the logic of a liberal. I am beginning to wonder if it is as hard to explain as a calculus formula and maybe that is why I just don’t understand it. The logic of a liberal quite simply is a riddle to me I may never understand. Why is it so difficult?

A liberal’s logic says nothing matters more than the civil rights of an individual even those individuals who want to kill us. The same people who will kill innocent children and mothers or chop the heads off of those they kidnap. A liberal’s logic calls himself a patriot but cheers when the United States military is caught doing something wrong. A liberal’s logic says that all individuals should be able to be free to make their own choices yet refuse to want to spread democracy to countries where people live under tyrants. A liberal’s logic condemns capitalism while profiting under that very system. A liberal’s logic says the country that gives the most money to aid the entire world does not give enough. A liberal’s logic considers a judge who promises to uphold the constitution is unfit to be on the bench.

It is because their logic is contradictory that makes it so warped. Maybe it is only when us conservatives reach a much higher level of understanding that we are then able to grasp what a liberal understands. Maybe us conservatives are just to simple to understand the complexity of liberal thinking. Or maybe deep down liberals hate America and what it stands for. Maybe they are not logical and that is why us conservatives think they are nuts. It many ways it is like dealing with children, to understand them you must get down to their level. A level that defies logic but makes them feel important. In the end though, all children need the logic of parents to survive. Liberals just haven’t grown up yet and most likely never will.

A Boston Tea Party …(Esteemed Madam or Gentleman)

I woke up this morning to the news the party of conservatism had once again acted in a non-conservative manner. Republicans had compromised with Democrats on the use of the judicial filibuster. My first reaction was one of anger and complete contempt for the Republican Senators who had agreed to the compromise. As the day wore on my anger grew but I became less surprised something like this happened.

We should not be surprised by a party that considers itself conservative yet spends federal tax dollars like drunken sailors. The problem is there is always a group of Republican Senators who will fail to act in a conservative way if it serves their self-interest. Take John McCain for instance, he votes conservatively on deficit spending yet betrayed his conservative backers on the constitutional option and refuses to support legislation that will actually close our borders to illegal aliens. Other Republican Senators supported the judicial constitutional option yet openly spend money on pork. We do not know whom to trust because the respective Senator will abandon his constituents to serve his political future.

A group of fourteen Senators decided to keep the filibuster as an option that can only be used in extraordinary circumstances. An extraordinary circumstance such as any Supreme Court nominee that believes an abortion is not a constitutional right. This deal smells of backroom deals and hand shaking. I thought it was the President’s responsibility to nominate judges but now it might as well be the duty of this group. Only they know what extraordinary is. Presidents are often asked if they have a litmus test for judicial nominees. We now know the Senate does and whether you pass that test will be decided by the group of fourteen. I have a hunch many grass root conservatives feel there is nothing extraordinary about the Republicans in this group. Each one of them who decides to run for President in the primaries will eventually feel the wrath of what they did, specifically Mr. McCain.

These Republican Senators decided they prefer to keep their very cushy country club intact than to vote, as their supporters wanted them too. They sold out for the sake of the Senatorial bi-partisanship wet dream. I on the other hand would prefer a few more exchanges like Cheney and Leahy had rather than “I yield to my esteemed madam or gentleman”. The Senate is such an elitist group of people the only thing that they resemble are Kings and Queens. They are definitely full of themselves. You can see it every time Robert Byrd speaks. True conservatives citizens need to remember this the next time they are voting in Republican primaries, there are very few REAL conservatives. Nothing shows that more than the kabal that was announced this morning.

A Boston Tea Party…(Times Sure Have Changed)

My history books taught me during WW I and WW II Americans fought as one. Whether you were a soldier, a politician, or a civilian, you pulled for America’s success. It didn’t matter if you were flying a military plane, working on a farm, working in a factory, or working in a bank, victory was the ultimate goal. Both Republicans and Democrats in those days knew freedom and liberty hung on the outcomes of these wars. Country always came before politics.

Contrast that patriotism with what we see today. It’s embarrassing to see the disappointment in the eyes of the far left as “Newsweek” retracted their report that American guards had flushed a Koran down a toilet. It’s so obvious the far left takes pleasure in America’s losing. I’m convinced they would prefer America lose the war against terrorism just so President Bush fails.

The far left doesn’t believe one single word Bush says, but automatically accepts the word of any terrorist prisoner. We see this by them saying, “Well maybe no source will confirm what “Newsweek” is reporting, but many other media outlets had previously reported similar Koran disgraces”. It so happens those instances were told to reporters by the Islamic prisoners. Hence, prisoners speak the truth but our President lies. We don’t hear one word from the left questioning whether the “Newsweek” report should have been printed even if it were true. Nor will the far left bring up the subject of why the world is willing to accept Muslims killing people in protest. I’m quite certain if Irish Catholics protested in a similar fashion, they would be heavily criticized by the media.

Journalistic integrity isn’t a concern of the fringe left when it comes to a Republican President. For them politics comes before country. If it takes America losing when Republicans are in charge, so be it. Losing can mean economically, or in stature, even with the lives of soldiers, or innocent citizens. This is what sets many of today’s Democrats apart from Republicans. A Republican would never put politics before country during times of war. A Republican would never sacrifice the success of his/her country just to have a Democratic President look bad. The actions of so many Democrats during this war show us times sure have changed and America suffers because of it.

A Boston Tea Party …(partners and alliances)

Last week we saw a political odd couple come together on an issue. I am talking about Newt Gingrich and Hillary Clinton sharing their common thoughts on medical reform. This made me think of the ultimate odd couple, Felix and Oscar.

You Remember Felix, played by Tony Randall, and Oscar, played by Jack Klugman, in the TV sitcom “The Odd Couple”. They were complete opposites. Sure, Felix and Oscar had a few things in common such as the air they needed to breath, food they needed to eat, and shelter. The original odd couple shared about as much in common as do Newt and Hillary. I strongly agree the medical industry in America is in dire need of reform. Businesses are being gouged with sky rocketing price increases for insurance. If you have an extended hospital stay you will pay the bills for the rest of your life. Something has to be done to keep cost increases at a normal rate.

Solutions need to be found but not with a combination of these two people. I would suggest to Newt that he remember what happened when Kennedy and President Bush worked on the education bill. At the time of the signing they were pals but it did not take long for Kennedy to attach President Bush on the very same bill they both worked so hard to create. Hillary cannot, will not, should not be trusted. She is all about political posturing. She has no definite beliefs that in anyway resemble centrist or right leaning positions. It is just a big masquerade. Seeing the two of them together was like watching a grotesque scary movie. It made me shudder with horror. We all need partners and alliances at one time or another but not this kind. After I go over the horror of seeing them together I now feel disgusted. Newt, there are plenty of Democrats to work with on health care reform. Stay away from the likes of Clinton or Kennedy and try someone who won’t back-stab you in the end.

A Boston Tea Party …(Cure For The Common Cold)

Nonpartisanship, obstructionism, career politicians, pork spending, open borders, and lobbyists are all problems with our current government. Any poll taken will tell you the American people do not trust politicians. They feel politicians are out of touch, full of political correctness, and put their careers ahead of the public.

Politicians spend more than they should because it is not their money. They have their own health and retirement programs that differ from the average American. In every way they become addicted to the power and have established re-election policies that make it extremely difficult for an incumbent to lose. They wear the amount of pork spending they bring back to there districts like a badge of honor. They refuse to close the American borders to illegal aliens for fear of losing a constituency. The political parties legislate on what will keep them in power rather than what they campaigned on.

The reasons every day Americans distrust their elected officials is too much for this article to list. I have only stated a few of the obvious ones. How do we take our government back; back to a government that people respect and honor; back to a government that trust the people and works for the people rather than against them? The answer is TERM LIMITS. Term limits is an idea that has lost its steam. Instead term limits should be the ultimate demand of everyday people.

Imagine a government that limited each body to just two terms. Imagine the turnover each election cycle where new people had a chance each election to be elected to office. Imagine the liberation of the politician. They no longer would be attached to special interests and could govern freely. Serving the people would no longer be a career but a service. Motivation to buy constituent votes with pork spending would be useless because your time in Washington is so limited. You, me, your cousin, your neighbor, the man across town all would have a legitimate chance to be elected. New people mean new ideas, fresh arguments, open debate. Term limits are and will be the answer that solves a majority of our problems with our federal government. Parties can still have basic principles and beliefs but to succeed will require new dynamic people rather than the same old faces we see now. We actually have politicians that are in office for thirty to forty years. How absolutely stupid is that? I think it is nuts. Our forefathers never would have been such careerists. The only way to take the government back to where it began is Term Limits. It would cure many ills. It is such a good remedy it may even cure the common cold.

A Boston Tea Party …(Calm Before The Storm)

The Democratic strategy of filibustering district court judicial nominees has been going on for four plus years. The Republican Majority Leader Bill Frist is nearing the moment when he calls for the nuclear option to be put into action. It is the only answer to stop Democrats from their main goal.

This President is going to quite possibly be nominating two judges for the Supreme Court. The filibustering of district court nominees is only a precursor to the fight that will take place in the very near future over those Supreme Court nominees. I would suggest the new additions to the Supreme Court are as important as any in my lifetime. Mark Levin’s book “Men In Black” details just how activist the Supreme Court has become. It is truly shocking when reading the judicial opinions how Justices like Breyer and Kennedy stray from the constitution. These two Justices along with Justice Ginsberg continually move the legal bar further to the left on a case-by-case basis eventually through precedence taking federal law in the direction they so intended. Justice Scalia on the other hand remains true to the constitution and often argues that it is the people’s duty to change social norms and not the judicial bench. He maintains elected officials in state and federal legislatures should create law. Mark Levin gives example after example of how the Supreme Court has shaped our current laws without regard to the voice of the majority.

Levin also explains how what were once conservative judges eventually take a turn to the left. This usually happens after spending a few years amongst Washington intellectuals. It is for this reason President Bush needs to nominate strong, consistent, constitutional judges for the Supreme Court. These judges must be unwavering over time and keep their personal views from influencing their opinions. The fear of such constitutionalist judges is why the Democrats are filibustering now. It is there way of setting precedence so when they do filibuster Supreme Court nominees it won’t seem so unusual. The current filibustering is just the calm before the storm. The perfect storm is on the horizon.

A Boston Tea Party…(Smog Of Obstructionism)

We have all heard the statements about the Democratic obstructionists. The party with no plan is what they are called. While Democrats sure seem to act as if they have no solutions to offer, it cannot possibly be true. What can be true, however, is their solutions would not be popular with fifty-two percent of the country. I believe this is why they continue to obstruct rather than provide resolutions to issues like Social Security, judicial nominees, U. N. appointees, and the war in Iraq. It is much safer for them as a party to disagree with Republican stances than to speak openly about their answers to the issues.

Reporters and commentators keep asking in dismay why the Democrat leadership has not countered each Republican proposal with one of their own. Just because they haven’t does not mean one can surmise what those plans might be. Take for instance judicial nominees; Democrats know that it will take many election cycles to again take over control of the House and Senate. Therefore without the ability to offer progressive legislation, Democrats are counting on activist courts to administer social changes. These changes cannot be brought to fruition with conservative constitutionalist judges. Hence, the filibustering of nominees tells us indeed what their desire really is.

The obstruction of Social Security Reform, specifically, the unwillingness to allow private accounts tells us Democrats prefer a welfare system of dependency for their constituents. Why else would they prefer to be in a private plan for themselves as politicians but want the citizenry to depend on Uncle Sam. For Democrats to speak frankly about this desire would be political death and that is why they refuse to offer any new Social Security reforms. They are absolutely for raising taxes to support the current system but cannot say so for turning the fifty-two percent who voted for President Bush into fifty-six percent.

The Democrats objections to the John Bolton nomination as United Nations ambassador is also a case of rejecting something rather than saying what you really stand for. It is no great secret Democrats value the opinion of the United Nations and prefer to gain U.N. approval before taking action on a variety of issues. Bolton’s nomination shows the President’s belief as well as many Americans that the U.N. is in dire need of reform. It has become nothing more than inadequate and powerless in defending justice and freedom around the world. Bolton’s rejection by the Democrats is their way of telling us they like the United Nations just the way it is.

The party of “no”. The party of obstructionism. Democrats have wisely taken the risk that it is better to be an obstacle to Republican ideas than to talk freely of their map for the future. The same map was rejected last November. I can see clearly through their smog of obstructionism and know well what color the stripes of a Democrat are. Plan or no plan, they are what they are. Wrong.

A Boston Tea Party …(It’s The People Stupid)

President Bush is nearing a critical time in his second term. The bold agenda he put forth in his State of the Union speech is losing steam. Obstructionist Democrats are doing whatever possible to prevent the President from succeeding. Last week in prime time he spoke to the nation and then took questions from reporters trying to explain his views. My thoughts before the speech were the same as they were after the speech.

It’s the people, stupid. While President Bush’s agenda is getting bogged down in congress he is failing to do what a leader should do. He needs to talk directly to the American people. I believe that fifty-three to fifty-eight percent of the public trusts him. As long as he explains his views and ideas to those fifty some percent, he will have their backing. It is the President they trust not his Republican Congressman. Everyone knows a Senator or a Representative is nothing more than a career politician. George Bush is not. He genuinely wants to do what is best for the country in many instances. He fails however when he allows his fellow party members to speak for him.

If he wants his judicial nominees voted upon then he should bring the argument to the American people directly. If he believes the Democrats will not support any changes to Social Security then he needs to tell the American people directly. He needs to lead and in order to lead speak to Joe queue public face to face. He should give monthly prime time speeches. He needs to be the national voice of his party not Bill Frist or Tom Delay. They inspire no one. President Bush does and President Bush can but only if his handlers will allow it.

Every time he speaks in a formal setting he does a great job. I would advise that he speak from the oval office rather than taking questions from reporters. Reporters such as David Gregory are to bias. They frame questions in ways that make statements of judgment rather than ask questions of policy. Like Gregory’s question last week on religion or another reporter saying “rich guys like Cheney” in his question. It is the people, stupid. President Bush can talk to the public without the help of reporters and he will end up with better results. Do as Reagan did, take your leadership to the people. If he continues down this same path and allows the likes of Frist and Delay to carry his agenda for him, it will fail. If a President wants to be great then he and he alone must win over the public with his vision for the country.
