A Boston Tea Party …(Cure For The Common Cold)

Nonpartisanship, obstructionism, career politicians, pork spending, open borders, and lobbyists are all problems with our current government. Any poll taken will tell you the American people do not trust politicians. They feel politicians are out of touch, full of political correctness, and put their careers ahead of the public.

Politicians spend more than they should because it is not their money. They have their own health and retirement programs that differ from the average American. In every way they become addicted to the power and have established re-election policies that make it extremely difficult for an incumbent to lose. They wear the amount of pork spending they bring back to there districts like a badge of honor. They refuse to close the American borders to illegal aliens for fear of losing a constituency. The political parties legislate on what will keep them in power rather than what they campaigned on.

The reasons every day Americans distrust their elected officials is too much for this article to list. I have only stated a few of the obvious ones. How do we take our government back; back to a government that people respect and honor; back to a government that trust the people and works for the people rather than against them? The answer is TERM LIMITS. Term limits is an idea that has lost its steam. Instead term limits should be the ultimate demand of everyday people.

Imagine a government that limited each body to just two terms. Imagine the turnover each election cycle where new people had a chance each election to be elected to office. Imagine the liberation of the politician. They no longer would be attached to special interests and could govern freely. Serving the people would no longer be a career but a service. Motivation to buy constituent votes with pork spending would be useless because your time in Washington is so limited. You, me, your cousin, your neighbor, the man across town all would have a legitimate chance to be elected. New people mean new ideas, fresh arguments, open debate. Term limits are and will be the answer that solves a majority of our problems with our federal government. Parties can still have basic principles and beliefs but to succeed will require new dynamic people rather than the same old faces we see now. We actually have politicians that are in office for thirty to forty years. How absolutely stupid is that? I think it is nuts. Our forefathers never would have been such careerists. The only way to take the government back to where it began is Term Limits. It would cure many ills. It is such a good remedy it may even cure the common cold.
