A Boston Tea Party …(partners and alliances)

Last week we saw a political odd couple come together on an issue. I am talking about Newt Gingrich and Hillary Clinton sharing their common thoughts on medical reform. This made me think of the ultimate odd couple, Felix and Oscar.

You Remember Felix, played by Tony Randall, and Oscar, played by Jack Klugman, in the TV sitcom “The Odd Couple”. They were complete opposites. Sure, Felix and Oscar had a few things in common such as the air they needed to breath, food they needed to eat, and shelter. The original odd couple shared about as much in common as do Newt and Hillary. I strongly agree the medical industry in America is in dire need of reform. Businesses are being gouged with sky rocketing price increases for insurance. If you have an extended hospital stay you will pay the bills for the rest of your life. Something has to be done to keep cost increases at a normal rate.

Solutions need to be found but not with a combination of these two people. I would suggest to Newt that he remember what happened when Kennedy and President Bush worked on the education bill. At the time of the signing they were pals but it did not take long for Kennedy to attach President Bush on the very same bill they both worked so hard to create. Hillary cannot, will not, should not be trusted. She is all about political posturing. She has no definite beliefs that in anyway resemble centrist or right leaning positions. It is just a big masquerade. Seeing the two of them together was like watching a grotesque scary movie. It made me shudder with horror. We all need partners and alliances at one time or another but not this kind. After I go over the horror of seeing them together I now feel disgusted. Newt, there are plenty of Democrats to work with on health care reform. Stay away from the likes of Clinton or Kennedy and try someone who won’t back-stab you in the end.
